Accuride unveils new 22.5 x 9.00 truck wheel with record light weight

Accuride Wheels announced the production of a new 22.5 x 9.00 European truck wheel at the IAA show in Hanover, Germany. The company said at 29.6 kg. (65.3 lbs.), the new wheel is the lightest ever in its category, shaving more than 5 lbs. off the previous record-holder, which was introduced at IAA Transportation 2022, weighing 32 kg. (70.6 lbs).

Accuride said the new wheel is made of high-strength, low-alloy steel and utilizes flow-forming technology. According to the company, the reduced weight aims to lower fuel consumption, reduce CO2 emissions and increase payload capacity. Accuride added that the wheel meets current and future customer requirements, including TMPS compatibility and high durability.

“After two years of research and development, the next level of weight reduction is now ready for industrial launch and can be offered to our customers as promised. We have kept our word and Accuride once again underlines its technological leadership in the commercial vehicle wheel market,” said Alexander John, president of Accuride Wheels Europe & Asia.
