Three-Vehicle Crash Involving UPS Box Truck Kills NAPA Auto Parts Driver in Libertyville – Cardinal News

A three-vehicle crash involving a box truck killed the driver of an auto parts delivery van late Friday morning on Libertyville’s near northwest side.

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Libertyville responded about 11:47 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 to a report of a serious crash with injuries at Butterfield Road and Winchester Road in Libertyville.

Police, firefighters and paramedics on arrival discovered a crash involving a silver Chevy SUV, a NAPA auto parts Dodge Ram van, and a UPS box truck.

The NAPA auto parts van was sandwiched between the SUV and the box truck, and the box truck’s front-end intruded significantly into the driver’s side of the Dodge RAM van.

The driver of the van was treated and transported with life-threatening injuries to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Initially his identity was not released. The deceased male was 77 years-old.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was assigned to the scene to assist Libertyville Police Department with the investigation.
