Good morning, Chargers fans!

On Monday evening, the Chargers announced the signing of cornerback Eli Apple to the practice squad. Apple is a former first-round pick of the Giants in 2016 out of Ohio State and was most recently with the Dolphins in 2023. In 2021, he played in Super Bowl LVI for the Bengals.

In eight NFL seasons entering 2024, the 6’1, 199-pound cornerback has six career interceptions and 60 pass breakups.

The move comes after the Chargers placed Asante Samuel Jr. on injured reserve over the weekend, on top of Ja’Sir Taylor missing Sunday’s win over the Broncos with a fibula injury.
